At a Sierra Vista Elementary School staff breakfast on Friday, June 17, Principal Cindy Rex reviewed the many successes the school enjoyed this year. She then presented her PYLUSD challenge coin to Tammie Hagen, the Sierra Vista office clerk. Tammie is an extraordinary employee with three wonderful children who all attended Sierra Vista, graduated from El Dorado High School and then went on to meaningful careers. As a parent, she taught her children and other students the meaning of hard work and honesty as she regularly volunteered on campus. She was hired as a physical education (PE) aide, and worked to teach sportsmanship and team spirit. With her ever-positive attitude, she contributed as a PTA board member and committee chairman for many years. She continues to support all PTA activities at Sierra Vista. Tammie worked for many years as a noon supervisor, and set the standards and procedures that are still in place today. As the current office clerk, Tammie volunteers more hours than she is paid every day, just to make sure everything gets done and is in order. She is a person of true integrity and determined excellence, and has the complete trust of all staff members and parents. She is known to all as a problem-solver and a valued friend. She is certainly an employee who provides a clear example of what the PYLUSD Advantage is all about. “It was my honor to recognize Tammie’s many years of service and high standards of living,” said Principal Rex.
