Tuesday, Dec. 6, was a stellar night for the students of Mr. Petersen’s North Orange County Regional Occupational Program (ROP) computer graphics, design and illustration class at El Camino Real High School. They swept the graphic design category at “Exposed,” the annual Yorba Linda Public Library art and literature contest.
With the theme “Hidden Treasures,” the students at the district’s award-winning continuation high school proved that many of them are, in fact, hidden treasures!
In the graphic design category:
- First place: Max de la Rosa – “Hidden Geniuses”
- Second place: Fernando Villa – “Sky’s the Limit”
- Third place: Eric Van Wert – “Carving of a Feather” and Nataly Gonzalez – “Big Dream” (tie!)
- Library staff pick: Lizette Silva – “Mind Treasures”
- Honorable mention: Vanessa Colmenares – “Illumination;” Gabe Ortega – The Universe” and Rakeb Yohannes – “Hidden Gem in the Attic”
With more than 60 entries from schools throughout the district, Mr. Petersen’s students made a positive impression in the community. Way to go Raptors!
