On the morning of Friday, Jan. 27, Rose Drive Elementary School first graders performed a reading for kindergarten students, complete with student-made hand puppets representing each of the characters in the popular short story, “The Sleeping Pig.” As kindergartners waited patiently for their early bird friends to exit the bus upon returning from a field trip, first graders stepped in to provide much-welcomed entertainment. Kindergartners listened attentively as first graders read in small groups, displaying their hand puppets as each character was introduced. The story ended just as the early bird kindergartners arrived, making for a perfectly timed and unexpected treat!
