Both the nonprofit Coast to Coast Foundation and the El Dorado High School cheerleading team were honored at a Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, March 14.
A “You Are The Advantage” award was presented to Marie Avena and Mary Molle with the Coast to Coast Foundation. For the past five years, Coast to Coast has provided scholarships of $75 to $100 to students in PYLUSD’s McKinney-Vento program. In total, Coast to Coast grants approximately $5,000 per year in scholarships. In addition, the organization donates over 200 backpacks stuffed with school supplies for homeless students.
Additionally, the Board recognized the El Dorado varsity cheer and song team for defending their national championship title for the fourth year in a row. The team competed at the largest cheerleading competition in the nation, the UCA National Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Fla. El Dorado took home the top prize in their division of 62 teams from across the country. EDHS is one of the most winning teams in the entire country, with five national titles total.
Congratulations!
