On Wednesday, May 9, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) honored seven teachers for earning the designation of Google Certified Educator Level 1.  Superintendent, Dr. Greg Plutko, as well as members of the District’s Innovation and Technology team including Director of K-12 Innovation and Technology, Cary Johnson, and Digital Learning Instructional Coach, Kim Voge, surprised these “Googlers” at their respective school sites.

The level 1 test is three hours long and encompasses many of the applications from G Suite, including Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, Forms, etc.  This test is for educators who have learned the fundamentals of using Google tools in the classroom. The level 1 certification validates standard technology implementation skills. Through their work, these teachers exemplify the Districts’ core values of Excellence, Innovation, Integrity, and Collaboration.

Many of these teachers have learned skills at PYLUSD Technology Summits, powered by EdTechTeam.  For the fourth year in a row, PYLUSD will host another custom technology summit in August at El Dorado High School.PYLUSD is a future ready school district, focusing on levering technology to encourage collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking!
