The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) has made history as the first district in Orange County Student Section history to secure both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions in the final fall power rankings. Valencia High School earned the top spot, while El Dorado High School closely followed in second place, an unprecedented achievement that highlights the district’s strong culture of school pride and student engagement.
Valencia High School’s Activities Director, Lauren Paquet, reflected on the significance of this recognition. “Being named Student Section of the Season is a testament to how our Tigers show up and show out for one another daily,” she shared. “From the pool deck to the fairway at Alta Vista, our love for Valencia is not only seen but, more importantly, felt by those in our Tiger family. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.”
El Dorado High School’s student section, the renowned Hawks Nest, proudly earned the runner-up distinction. Activities Director Eron Campuzano noted the longstanding tradition of spirit on campus. “For almost two decades, the El Dorado Hawks Nest has led the way in Orange County, illustrating what ‘spirit never sleeps’ truly means,” he said. “In 2022, the Hawks Nest was ranked No. 3, followed by being named the OCSS Student Section of the Year in 2023. In 2024, the Hawks Nest again finished in third place. We took last year off from posting and competing to remind our school and student section why we do what we do: spirit over status, whether anyone is watching or not. This year, the students wanted to compete again, and we could not be happier to stand alongside Valencia as No. 1 and No. 2, representing PYLUSD.”
This historic dual recognition underscores PYLUSD’s commitment to fostering school pride, student leadership, and positive campus culture across its high schools.
