At the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, educational and engagement programs are designed to cultivate artistic skill development, foster creativity, and inspire a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Among these offerings, the Center’s Master Classes provide small, immersive learning experiences for career-focused students from across Southern California. These classes offer participants the opportunity to engage directly with world-class artists, receive immediate professional feedback, and gain insight into the expectations of a career in the performing arts. Master Classes are led by distinguished artists from Broadway, television, jazz, classical music, and internationally renowned dance companies.
Recently, Valencia High School students Griffin Davis and Cassie Queen were selected to participate in a Master Class experience that included a rare performance opportunity. Griffin Davis was one of only 11 students invited to a callback session, during which he worked one-on-one with Hugh Jackman. While he was not selected for one of the six final featured performance spots, both Griffin Davis and Cassie Queen were invited to join the student choir.
As part of the culminating experience, the students performed “You Will Be Found” alongside the finalists and Hugh Jackman, marking a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform at a professional level in collaboration with a globally recognized artist.
