Recently, Esperanza High School’s dance team hosted a huge competition with over 35 local high schools. It was the West Coast Elite Dance Competition, and the Aztecs did really well against talented dance teams.

They placed 4th in Medium Lyrical, 3rd in Medium Jazz and Small Contemporary, and 1st place in Small Lyrical and Kick. They competed against other Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District schools such as El Dorado and Valencia, as well as Troy, Chino Hills, Diamond Bar and many others.

Soloist Bethany Nakamura also represented Esperanza very well. Nakamura placed 8th overall in the freshman category, while soloists Amberly Higgins placed 18th, Jordan Boucher took 4th, and Lauren Kettering placed 1st place in the 10th grade category.

Lauren Kettering was top 11 high score soloist and made it to finals placing 9th. Katharina Abramovich placed 9th in the Junior category and senior Hailey Huff placed 21st overall.

The Esperanza Dance Team did a great job this past weekend and will compete again this soon at the USA Regionals in Costa Mesa.
