Students at the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s (PYLUSD) four comprehensive high schools have successfully completed CPR training as part of their freshman health course curriculum. Equipped with essential life-saving skills, these students are now better prepared to respond effectively to emergencies in their communities.
Under the guidance of dedicated health teachers, students across the district have engaged in hands-on CPR training using a set of specialized Rescue Annie dolls. These dolls provide a lifelike simulation, offering students an authentic learning experience that mirrors real-world scenarios.
The inclusion of CPR training in the curriculum underscores the district’s commitment to promoting health and safety education. By empowering students with the knowledge and skills to perform CPR, the district aims to cultivate a generation of proactive citizens capable of making a positive difference in emergency situations.
One such classroom where this training took place is Nick Gerasimou’s class at Yorba Linda High School, captured in the image above. Students are actively engaged in CPR practice sessions with the Rescue Annie dolls.
Through interactive demonstrations and guided instruction, students not only learn the technical aspects of CPR but also develop the confidence and readiness to apply these skills when faced with real-life emergencies. This hands-on approach ensures that students are well-prepared to act swiftly and decisively in critical situations, potentially saving lives within their communities.
Moreover, the CPR training serves as a foundational element within the broader Health Science curriculum, aligning with educational standards that emphasize the importance of preventive healthcare and emergency preparedness. By integrating practical skills training into the academic framework, the district aims to instill lifelong habits of health and wellness in its students.
