Primary grade students at Lakeview Elementary School are working to finish up a science unit, Master of Materials. They have conducted many experiments to understand the properties of materials and engineered various structures to meet project requirements. For example, the students made bridges that must cross a body of water, have a toy car drive over it, and be tall enough for a toy boat to go under it. Their final test was a very exciting experiment where students put a five pound bag of metal washers to see if their bridge was strong. According to teachers, all students enjoyed the engineering task and were able to successfully meet the project requirements with a few revisions! Way to go, Lions!
