On Tuesday, August 27, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) welcomed nearly 25,000 students to the 2019-2020 school year at all 34 school sites.
Great enthusiasm could be felt across all PYLUSD campuses including elementary, middle, and high schools. Students of all ages – Preppy K through 12th – were joyful while meeting new teachers and staff members, reuniting with friends, and beginning another year of learning in PYLUSD!
“On behalf of our Board of Education, I want to wish you and your family an exciting and successful start to the 2019-2020 school year,” shared Superintendent, Dr. Greg Plutko, in his back to school message to families. “It is sure to be our best year yet!”
Dr. Plutko also shared about the District’s new full-day kindergarten pilot program that was launched this school year. The pilot program includes Brookhaven, Glenknoll, Morse, Topaz, and Woodsboro elementary schools.
“Our full-day program will be grounded in developmental research to ensure all participating students receive strong academic foundational instruction as well as additional time to participate in enriched visual and performing arts activities,” he mentioned.
With the anticipated success of the pilot, PYLUSD hopes to expand the full-day kindergarten program district-wide for the 2020-2021 school year.
