Lakeview kindergarteners get a “taste” of Johnny Appleseed

Lakeview kindergarteners

During the 2nd week of fall, Lakeview’s kindergarteners read books and watched video clips about Johnny Appleseed and apples! To extend and enrich the students’ learning experience, they each brought in apples of varied colors and used an apple corer/peeler, with the help of parent volunteers, to peel and cut the apples. They eventually turned their hard work into a delicious snack that had a little cinnamon touch.

Lakeview’s learners used their creativity to make their own Appleseed hats and utilized their math skills as they graphed and compared which apples they liked the most and least. Mrs. Eliot ended her students’ festive thematic activities with a directed draw of Johnny Appleseed.
