On Sunday, Feb. 19, Yorba Linda High School freshman Jenee Anekwe won the American Legion Area 5 Oratorical Contest. Jenee competed on behalf of the Richard M. Nixon American Legion Post 679. She is also a member of the YLHS speech and debate team.
Jenee will now advance to the American Legion Department of California competition on Saturday, March 4, at the California State Assembly in Sacramento. She will be representing all American Legion Posts in Area 5, which includes Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Imperial counties.
Additionally, Jenee has been invited to speak at the Riverside National Cemetery on Memorial Day, which is on Monday, May 29.
