Wagner Elementary School’s English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC) met on Monday, November 13, 2017 and the turn out was fantastic! Being such a small school with a handful of English Learners, it was impressive to see so many parents and their children come to find out more about resources to support their child’s language development.
Mrs. Karen Dunn, 1st grade teacher, hosted the meeting and provided pizza and snacks for families. Mrs. Roxanne Ybarra, parent, did a wonderful job of facilitating the meeting. Guests included Mrs. Erika Ontiveros, the school’s ELD teacher who shared about the instruction students receive during Designated ELD instruction, and Mrs. Pam Munoz, 6th grade teacher and Single Plan for Student Achievement Coordinator, who shared the school budget with attendees.
During the course of the evening, parents learned about the new assessment called ELPAC, logged into their child’s CLEVER account and had the chance to explore Ticket to Read, Benchmark Universe, Think Central, and Rosetta Stone. Wagner is grateful for the committed staff and families that support English Learners!
