VHS TiGears host Kit-Bot Build Day to mentor brand-new robotics teams

The Valencia High School (VHS) FIRST Robotics team 4470, “TiGears,” recently hosted the Kit-Bot Build Day on campus.  The goal of the event is to help “rookie” robotics teams assemble their first robot to ensure they have a working robot when they leave on the same day.

Until they gain more experience, most rookie teams do not have the tools or expertise necessary to assemble their first robot.  Valencia allows these teams to borrow their tools while providing knowledge about parts in their robot kit.  The TiGear students also explain how the pieces go together, how to solder, wire, and install an electrical panel, and how to download and use their team software package.

“It is truly rewarding to see a rookie team come in with concern about the upcoming season and being able to put their robot together properly, then see that concern turn to joy and anticipation instead,” shared TiGears coach, Hope Conant.  “Our team members were great hosts and mentors!”

Way to go, TiGears!
