Mabel Paine Elementary School students are awesome! The school’s general education students have been working extra hard in their classrooms for opportunities to visit Special Day Classes each week! This practice allows students with special needs to interact with typical peers while learning social skills, playing games, and enjoying new faces.
Most recently, 13 students from Mrs. Thurston’s 5th grade class devoted their genius hour project to learning about autism and throwing an “Emoji Party” for Mrs. Davila’s 1st and 2nd grade class. They assigned one-to-one buddies for each student in her class, created activities and games, and raised money for their supplies. They showcased all of Mabel Paine’s values including COMPASSION, COLLABORATION, DIVERSITY, and RESPECT, and are the very best examples of why the school is awesome!
