Congratulations to Yorba Linda High School (YLHS) senior, Alexandra Lee, for being named the 2018 Orange County Register Artist of the Year for for film! Alexandra receives this distinction alongside six other Orange County high school students dubbed “top artists” in the other categories of 2D visual arts, 3D visual arts, dance, instrumental music, theater, and vocal music.
“Alexandra Lee isn’t just a filmmaker. The 18-year-old senior from Yorba Linda High School also played the leading role in a film she wrote and directed, “Inside of Hope,” a moving semi-autobiographical story about a teenage girl who struggles with an eating disorder,” according to the Orange County Register.
Lee’s film teacher, Richard Cadra, quickly recognized her talent as well. “Alex is extremely comfortable in front of as well as behind the camera. She is amiable, warm and professional.”

The Artist of the Year program is presented by the Register in partnership with Orange County Music and Dance and the Orange County Department of Education, with the help from the Segerstrom Center for the Arts and the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University.
