Brookhaven Elementary School’s 50th anniversary celebration will take place on campus on Friday, September 28, 2018. The Placentia school first opened its doors in 1968 along with fellow Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) campuses, Tuffree Middle and Glenknoll Elementary.
“Planning has been taking place for some time and we are very much looking forward to celebrating the rich tradition, history, and community that makes Brookhaven such a great place for kids to learn and grow!,” shared principal, Julie Lucas.
At 5:00 pm, the evening event will begin with a short ceremony featuring current and former staff members and students, followed by an open house in which guests can view memorabilia and artifacts collected from the past 50 years.
Guests will be able to mingle, share memories, and even purchase Brookhaven 50th anniversary spirit wear! The evening will be capped off with the school’s annual PTA sponsored Fall Family Movie Night. Meals from B & C Burger will be available for purchase and the movie will begin at dusk.
In addition, a daytime assembly is being planned for students that will share the school’s theme this year, “Super Heroes Among Us.” The ceremony will highlight the impact Brookhaven has had in the local community and school district now and in the past. Students have been encouraged to dress for school that day like they may have on the first day of school in 1968! It’s sure to be a special day!
“We look forward to a memorable, fun-filled day and evening, and cordially invite all members of our community,” Lucas said. “We hope you can join us!”
