District marching bands and color guards win top honors

On Saturday, Nov. 21, several district bands performed in the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) Field Championships after posting Top 12 qualifying scores in events through Nov. 14. In the end, PYLUSD schools did very well. Here are the results:

Yorba Linda High School Mustang Band & Guard received top honors. They earned the High Music Sweepstakes award, and took home the Silver Medal for the 2A division. This group has won the High Music Sweepstakes award at every competition this season. This year’s show, “The Quest,” was led by director Bincins Garcia and student leaders Rachel Ehlen, Matt Arsenault, Katherine Robison and Nicole Espinoza. This is the highest marching band honor the program has received. They competed against 29 high schools in Southern California.

El Dorado High School Golden Hawks Band & Color Guard took 10th place in the 6A division, and captured second place in band and second place in color guard with their combined scores from the 62nd Annual Arcadia Festival of Bands and Invitational Field Show Tournament.
