YLHS students prepare for future careers through annual business expo competition

YLHS business expo 2018.

On Thursday, November 15, students in Yorba Linda High’s senior class participated in the school’s annual business expo competition. Students worked for months developing their business idea, creating prototypes/visuals, researching the market/industry, and crafting their business pitch.

Each year, the intention of this expo is to prepare students to present the best versions of themselves to a potential employer, their boss, or clients. The Mustangs worked on crafting their words carefully and concisely, speaking with enthusiasm, communicating confidence with their body language, and making eye contact.

The day of the event, teams presented unique business pitches to roughly 30 community judges. The judges then had the challenging task of distinguishing three business teams as finalists. Congratulations to the following Mustang seniors for their extraordinary work:

Finalists
1st Place – Amanda Walion, Alyssa Gaglia (What’s Poppin)
2nd Place – Jake Speyer (Live Med)
3rd Place – Samantha dela Bretoniere, Kaitlin Thomas, Avery Wellendorf (Magnet Decor Clips)

YLHS extends great thanks to Will Taormina, the founder of the National Startup League, and teachers Samiya Hai, Lloyd Walls, Mark Honig, and Rey Lejano for making this event possible.
