The Yorba Linda High School Mustangs Band & Guard spent their Spring Break in Oahu, Hawaii! They had an opportunity to perform at the world-famous Blue Note Jazz Club and in the Salute to Youth Parade in Waikiki. Following the parade, the Mustangs earned 2nd in band, 1st in guard, and 2nd in drum major.
Not only did the trip include many educational opportunities and performances, it was also filled with cultural experiences. The students visited a Buddhist temple, participated in a luau, witnessed a traditional Hawaiian coconut demonstration, hiked Diamond Head, toured the Dole Plantation, and experienced Hawaiian dancing and beach activities.
“Thanks to our parent chaperones, campus security Kino Oaxaca, and Principal Dave Flynn for taking the trip with us! Our kids represented Yorba Linda very well,” shared Director of Bands, Bincins Garcia.
Maikaʻi kau hana, Mustangs!
