For the past several years, the California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), Department of Education has partnered with the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District to donate to the needy families of Rio Vista and Melrose elementary schools.
On Saturday, Dec. 5, 40 volunteers helped donate both presents to children and Christmas trees to families in our district. These volunteers included 14 Yorba Linda High School baseball players, two coaches, 22 CSUF students and two CSUF faculty members.
Together, they made 62 families a little more joyous this Christmas season.
“I am very proud of our players and families, and thankful to the community for their gracious support,” said baseball coach Matt Stine.
Special thanks to Denise Wood at Wood Mountain Christmas Trees for donating so many Christmas trees; Herb and Christine Loo; Aimee Nelson and Laura Neal with Student California Teachers Association (SCTA); Rob Casaba, Jose Cabrera, Rafael Plascencia and Cyndie Alvarez; and Christine Mayfield for baking several trays of banana bread.
Lastly, thanks to Kim Case, a faculty member, iSTEM and Co-Teaching Coordinator at CSUF, whom the district has partnered with on this event since its inception.
