Linda Vista Elementary School’s motto this year is, “At Linda Vista, we are PAWSitiviely here for each other.” PAWS represents the school’s core values of Practice Kindness, Always Do Our Best, Work Together, and Show Respect.
“It is our goal to foster a learning environment that is safe, inclusive, supportive, inviting, and nurturing,” Principal Kristen Petrovacki noted. “I continue to be very proud of the way our students and staff come together to live out this mission.”
One way the PAWS motto is displayed on Linda Vista’s campus through their Lead Lion Peer Mentors group, where upper grade students volunteer their time to serve as positive role models for primary students during recess and lunch. To be a Lead Lion, students must carefully complete an application process in order to demonstrate their leadership potential and eagerness to give back to the school.
“What they don’t yet realize is how much they will get back from serving in this capacity,” Petrovacki shared.
Mahatma Gandhi articulates this perfectly with his quote, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
Keep up to good work, Lions!
