El Camino Real students speak at Soroptimist International Authors’ Luncheon

ECRHS students.

On Saturday, November 2, El Camino Real High School students, Genevieve O’Gilvy, senior, and Selena Alvarez, junior, addressed over 200 guests at the Soroptimist International Authors’ Luncheon, a fundraiser for the Brea/La Habra chapter.

The young ladies are participating in Ms. Bonner’s new Women’s Studies course at El Camino Real this school year. Each Tuesday during Women’s Studies, volunteers from Soroptimist International share their stories through the Dream It, Be It! curriculum.

Genny and Selena each shared something they have learned from the partnership, and Genny lead the crowd in a series of positive affirmations, the same sentiments with which they begin each session.

Guests listened to the stories of three authors, all of whom shared stories about their lives and how they became published authors. This school year marks the first year ECRHS is partnering with the Brea/La Habra Soroptimist chapter. The Raptors look forward to a long-lasting partnership.
