Esperanza High School’s Unified Sports athletes played Corona Del Mar High School in a friendly exhibition basketball game on Wednesday, February 5. Aztec athletes, staff, coaches, parents, and families received a warn welcome by Corona Del Mar Unified athletes. After the game, all participating athletes enjoyed a pizza dinner together. This is the second consecutive year that Unified athletes from both schools have competed.
A few years ago, Unified Sports started at Esperanza as a club led by students focused on inclusion and building friendships through sports and activities. In the past, EHS has hosted several Unified Sports events where students with disabilities and general education partners joined together to train and compete.
