Jade Sanchez, third grader from Ruby Drive Elementary School, recently benefited from a longstanding partnership between Ketchum Health/University Eye Center and the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. When Jade’s teachers realized that there was something amiss with Jade’s eyesight, her mother was alerted and a referral was submitted for Jade to get an eye exam and glasses at no cost to the family.
After two visits to the Eye Center, Jade walked out with a completely new outlook on life, being able to see things clearly for the first time in several years. When looking at the trees outside of the Eye Center, Jade commented that she could see the separation of the leaves for the first time!
Jon Matson, the McKinney Vento Liaison for the PYLUSD, commented, “For several years we have had an ongoing partnership with Ketchum Eye Center. They have provided vision exams and glasses for over one hundred PYLUSD students who otherwise could not afford them. Thank you, Ketchum!”
With the help of Ketchum program coordinator, Michele Whitecavage, and Lead Optician, Ernie Morales, Jade can now see the whiteboard at school clearly, as well as nature in its most precise form. Congratulations, Jade!
