Two teams from Tynes compete and earn medals at SoCal Elementary Science Olympiad

Tynes Elementary School participated in the 2023 SoCal Elementary Science Olympiad on Saturday, April 29, 2023. In the competition, 28 teams from Southern California competed across 15 different events. Two Tynes teams, coached by Ms. Benner, Mrs. Dominguez, and Mrs. Santa Ana, earned gold and silver medals. 

Tynes’ Team A consisted of six 6th graders, six 5th graders, and three 4th graders who earned gold. Tynes Team B consisted of six 6th graders, four 5th graders, and five 4th graders who earned silver. These 4th-6th graders spent countless hours studying, collaborating, and building in preparation for the competition.

Science Olympiad is a competition where students compete in various events pertaining to scientific disciplines including social science, earth and space science, physical science, and more.

“We’re so proud of you for participating in this event,” Principal Tonya Gordillo shared. “Go Tigers!”
