Yorba Linda Middle School (YLMS) 6th-grade art students created festive pumpkins inspired by famous Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, which are now displayed at a nearby Starbucks.
Students were inspired by Kusama’s story and her journey to success as an artist. Students first researched the artist’s work that is displayed worldwide, then applied knowledge of the Elements of Art, focusing on line and shape to create whimsical pumpkins for Starbucks.
“YLMS is thankful to partner with our local community and proud that our students have the opportunity to showcase their work,” shared Principal Paige Stills.
“Thank you to our friends at Starbucks including store manager, Jori Jandorf, for your continued support of the arts,” stated Art Teacher Mrs. Tangney. “Our students take pride in their work and are thrilled to see their work displayed in the community. We look forward to displaying our annual Holiday Sweater designs in December.”
The Bobcats’ art is on display at the Starbucks located at 17474 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886.
