This holiday season, the Placentia-Yorba Linda community has demonstrated its unwavering support for the Family Resource Center (FRC) through a variety of thoughtful donations. These contributions will benefit local families in need, showcasing the power of collaboration and compassion.
The Marshall’s store on Yorba Linda Boulevard made a significant impact by donating 125 high-quality backpacks. Ana Zamora, a former Valencia High School (VHS) parent and manager at the store, spearheaded the effort. She coordinated the donation by reaching out to Carolyn Douglas, her daughter’s former counselor at VHS, strengthening the ties between local businesses and schools.
Local schools have also stepped up in a big way, filling the Topaz and Melrose FRC Food Pantries with non-perishable food items. Brookhaven, Bryant Ranch, and Morse elementary schools, as well as Yorba Linda Middle School (YLMS), El Dorado High School (EDHS), and their Impact Club and ASB, all organized successful food drives.
Student leadership and initiative were at the forefront of this generosity. At VHS, student Makayla Chung organized a significant donation effort through her Fellowship of Christian Athletes club, supported by her math teacher, Mrs. Umekubo. At EDHS, students Julia Wong and Maggie Pang launched a food drive through Yorba Linda Girl Scout Troop 3244. Meanwhile, at Yorba Linda High School (YLHS), Elyse Tran and Abigail Phan from the Beautiful Endearing Expression (B.E.E.) Society partnered with their ASB to gather donations, further exemplifying the impact of teamwork.
These acts of giving highlight the strong spirit of community within the PYLUSD area. Thanks to the collective efforts of local businesses, schools, and student organizations, the FRC is well-equipped to support families this holiday season.
