On Tuesday, February 11, students across the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) marked the 100th day of school with a series of engaging and educational activities. This milestone event was celebrated at elementary schools district-wide, where students participated in a variety of creative projects designed to commemorate the occasion and reflect on the learning and growth achieved over the first 100 days of the school year. Among the activities, students crafted commemorative shirts, dressed up as centenarians to signify their “100 days smarter” status, and engaged in hands-on projects such as creating masks, assembling 100-piece snacks, fashioning cereal necklaces, and completing 100 exercises.
At Fairmont Elementary School, first-grade classrooms marked not only the 100th day of school but also the 101st day with a whimsical twist, as students dressed up as “101 Dalmatians.” Clad in black and white attire, the students created dalmatian headbands and participated in a variety of themed activities. One highlight of the day included bringing in 101 small counters, which students grouped into sets of ten. Additionally, the students tested their endurance by challenging themselves to see how many jumping jacks they could complete within a 101-second window, combining physical activity with their learning experience.
Additionally, fifth-grade students participated in a creative variation of the celebration by recognizing the “1000th day” of school..
Overall, the 100th day celebrations across PYLUSD served as both a time for students to reflect on their academic achievements and an opportunity for teachers to create engaging and memorable learning experiences that brought joy and excitement to the classroom.
