Golden Elementary School students took the Great Kindness Challenge, sponsored by Kids for Peace. Led by Peer Assistance and Leadership (PAL) student leaders, Ava A., Arpi K., Katelynn P. and Parth S., every student at Golden performed kind deeds all week long. They were inspired by ideas on a list of suggested kindness acts, and mindfully set out to make their school a kinder place. Each morning, PAL leaders encouraged the practice of kindness with poems, quotes and messages about kindness during announcements. Each day, Golden’s campus was filled with students smiling, saying a kind hello and thanking those who don’t often get thanked. It was uplifting for all. Students who completed all 50 suggested acts during the week had their record sheet hung on the multipurpose room wall; but, more importantly, they got the heartwarming feeling of being kind.
