During the first week of school, students at Golden Elementary School walked from the valet area in front of the school to the lunch tables, multipurpose room, library, restrooms and playground to learn the behaviors that help every student SHINE (Safe, Here and ready, Inclusive, Nurturing and Exceptional). Golden kicked off its first year of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) implementation with assemblies and lessons taught by Principal Roann Turk, Secretary Shawanne Belmont, Custodian Nora Rubalcava, Psychologist Brian Lam, and Speech and Language Teacher Judy Hale, as well as former PYLUSD Principal Liana Neuland. Students loved role-playing the right way to behave, as well as how not to behave in each area. The school is off to a wonderful start at being respectful, responsible and safe. Students will earn lots of SHINE cards to spend in Golden’s PTA-supported SHINE store. Teachers, staff and parents all worked together to make this a SHINE-ing start to the school year!
