On April 3, 2025, the North Orange County Regional Occupational Program (NOCROP) hosted its annual Celebration of Success awards ceremony, recognizing outstanding student achievement within the career technical education (CTE) pathways offered across Orange County. Among the honorees were several students from the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD), who were celebrated for their excellence and dedication in their respective fields of study.
Madison Amaya, a 12th-grade student from Valencia High School enrolled in the Culinary Pathway, was named the PYLUSD ROP Student of the Year and received a $1,000 scholarship. She was also awarded two additional $1,000 scholarships: the Anthony and Lorraine Trocchio Scholarship and the Altrusa International Inc., Anaheim Chapter, Maria Hoffman Award.
Finalists for the PYLUSD ROP Student of the Year, each receiving $500, included Nyeema Forrester (12th grade, Esperanza High School, Medical Sciences Pathway), Gavin Futterer (12th grade, Esperanza High School, Graphic Design Pathway), and Brianny Guardado (12th grade, Valencia High School, Photography Pathway).
Additional scholarship recipients included Fiya Lane (12th grade, Esperanza High School, Medical Sciences Pathway), who received the $1,000 Ray Gerace Award; Dylan Rogers (11th grade, Esperanza High School, Graphic Design Pathway), awarded the $1,000 Altrusa International Inc., Anaheim Chapter, Carmen Lizarraga Award; Sam Ryan (12th grade, Esperanza High School, Graphic Design Pathway), recipient of the $1,000 Robert Newman Hathaway Memorial Scholarship; and James “Deegan” Sticht (Esperanza High School, Medical Sciences Pathway), who earned the $1,000 Altrusa International Inc., Anaheim Chapter, Sandra Frazelle Award.
