Three Kraemer Middle School LEGO Robotics Teams Advance to Regionals After Outstanding Performance at Val Verde Qualifier

On Saturday, November 1, three First Lego League (FLL) Robotics teams representing Kraemer Middle School Hub—Control-Alt-EliteThe Green Eyeballs, and Iron Clad Pythons—competed among 24 teams at the Val Verde Unified School District Qualifier and all advanced to the FLL Regional Championships to be held in mid-December.

In a field of more than 700 teams across Southern California, these three REACH Foundation teams stood out for their creativity, problem-solving, and engineering excellence. Control-Alt-Elite captured first place with an impressive high score of 415 points in the Robot Game.

This year’s FLL theme, “Unearthed,” challenged students to design and present innovative solutions inspired by archaeology.

  • Control-Alt-Elite impressed judges with a precision robot design and earned the 1st Place Robot Performance Award.
  • The Iron Clad Pythons, a rookie team, engaged with five professional archaeologists, historians, paleontologists and scientists from UCI and Stantec Inc. to inform their research.
  • The Green Eyeballs developed “Race for Relics,” an educational game board designed to spark student curiosity about archaeology.

“We are thankful to our coaches, parents, district, and community partners for this transformative educational experience—teaching real-world skills to help students reach their highest potential,” said Gisele Nguyen, President of the REACH Foundation.

“Our journey this season has been about learning, improving, and growing together,” said Coach Madhura Shaligram, whose team earned the top Robot Game score.

“Beyond robotics, our students are learning to value diverse ideas, take feedback, and engage with their community,” added Coach Mary Ahn.

The REACH Foundation congratulates the students on their hard work and dedication and looks forward to cheering them on at the FLL Regionals.
