On July 15, Valencia High School Choir Director Megan Arthurton and her students took the stage at the 2026 MTSS Professional Learning Institute Conference in Anaheim, bringing together generations of musicians for a special performance.
Arthurton was invited to perform in recognition of receiving the Irene Schoepfle Lifetime Achievement Award for Music through the Orange County Music and Arts Administrators (OCMAA) Awards.
For the occasion, Arthurton assembled a combined choir featuring current Valencia High School students, alumni, and students from Kraemer Middle School. Representing graduating classes spanning 2016 through 2031, the singers performed for educational leaders from across Orange County and throughout California, showcasing the lasting impact of arts education and the connections built through music.
As part of the conference, Valencia High School senior Marley Miranda also participated in an interview highlighting the importance of music education and sharing how the Valencia High School Choir program has impacted her student experience.
The special performance was a meaningful celebration of Arthurton’s recognition and the generations of students whose lives have been enriched through music education.
