The fourth grade classes from Sierra Vista Elementary School took a field trip to the Newport Sea Base. The children participated in two different activities throughout the day. At the first station, they used their hands and tools to examine different types of sea life, and they learned about the different food chains in the ocean. They were also able to use tools and underwater cameras to collect species from the side of the dock. For the second part of the field trip, the kids took a ride through the Newport Harbor on a pontoon boat. With the help of the guides, the students found different artifacts in the harbor, and took them back to the dock to investigate. The children thoroughly enjoyed this field trip, and they loved being in the harbor all day.
