Travis Ranch “Trailblazer” marching band and color guard performs at Disneyland’s Main Street, USA

On Wednesday, Dec. 14, the Travis Ranch School “Trailblazer” marching band and color guard performed for thousands of guests at the Disneyland Resort. Being selected to march down Main Street, U.S.A., does not come easy. The 124-piece band and guard unit began preparations in mid-August at their week-long band camp. There, they learned the basics of marching, worked on their musical selections and then continued to perfect their parade performance during each 0 period marching rehearsal – an estimated 80 hours of marching practice in addition to the regular school day!

Each fall, schools across Southern California submit audition videos and an application to take part in the Disneyland Performing Arts Showcase. Travis Ranch has been selected for the past several years. The band program is proud to represent Travis Ranch and PYLUSD when it comes to the arts.

The “Trailblazer” marching band is an “active” group with a lot of support from administrators, parents, instrumental boosters and volunteers. This community support for the arts ensures that Travis Ranch students will continue to have exciting opportunities to perform.

Missed the marching band performance? The Travis Ranch jazz band and concert band will also be performing at Disney California Adventure on Monday, Jan. 30, and Sunday, Feb. 26, respectively.
