On Friday, November 5, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) held the second middle school sports event with a districtwide Cross Country Meet at Veterans Park next to Yorba Linda Middle School. Teams from all six middle schools raced around a 3k (1.87 miles) track.
The event was hosted and supported by the Valencia High School Cross Country team. Over 200 sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders took part in the competition. There were four total races for 6/7th boys, 6/7th girls, 8th-grade boys, and 8th-grade girls. Medals were given to the top 15 runners in each, and championship plaques were provided for the winning teams in each race. This included the following teams: 6th/7th Girls: Bernardo Yorba Middle School; 6th/7th Boys: Travis Ranch School; 8th Girls: Tuffree Middle School; and 8th Boys: Bernardo Yorba Middle School.
“This was another wonderful event that celebrated student camaraderie, connections, and sportsmanship,” Keith Carmona, Director of Middle Schools, shared. “Our next district-wide middle school sports is a basketball tournament taking place at El Dorado on February 24, 2022.”
