On Wednesday, May 8, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) held its annual Middle School Track Meet event in Nathan Shapell Memorial Stadium at Yorba Linda High School. This event is supported annually by the REACH Foundation. Student-athletes from six middle schools competed against each other in events like high jump, long-distance running, long jump, sprints, and more. This included the Bernardo Yorba Matadors, Kraemer Cubs, Travis Ranch Trailblazers, Tuffree Falcons, Valadez Eagles, and Yorba Linda Bobcats.
Following each event, medals and ribbons were awarded to the top three finishers as they stood on the winners’ podium for all to see. The event was supported by Yorba Linda High School’s track program, including head coach Stirley Jones.
The track meet marked the fifth and final event of the district’s expanded Middle School Athletics program. Students competed in volleyball, cross country, basketball, wrestling, and track/field for the 2023-2024 school year. All PYLUSD student-athletes did an outstanding job at each event and made their individual schools proud.
This event would not be made possible without the support of Middle School Athletics Coordinator, Sarah Barton, and the generosity of the REACH Foundation, an all-volunteer, education-focused, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization in benefit of PYLUSD students district-wide. The event was a great success and continues to afford REACH the ability to support academics, athletics, and arts in PYLUSD. Thank you, REACH!
