AVID recognition at Board Meeting.

On May 7, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Board of Education set aside time to recognize AVID 8th Grade Standouts from all six middle schools. The students’ teachers, counselors, principals, and loved ones were also in attendance to support.

“Each year, the AVID Standout Award is given to students who demonstrate excellence, collaboration, integrity, and service in their academic achievements and individual determination,” Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Dr. Olivia Yaung, shared. “These six students are being recognized for their high GPA, community service, and involvement in leadership and extracurricular activities. Many hours of dedication and hard work are behind these students’ accomplishments. This recognition represents the determination, perseverance, and commitment each student has demonstrated toward their education.”

Then on May 8, all six AVID Standouts were recognized by the Orange County Department of Education at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

Kraemer Middle School student, Melanie Rebollar-Lua, was one of just six students selected by the Angels Foundation as an Angels Scholar. Melanie will receive a $10,000 renewable scholarship for college in addition to the Angels tickets, Angels gear, and a brand new laptop that all standouts received.
