PYLUSD recognizes 2018 Community Honorees

Prior to the May 15  Board of Education meeting, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) held a ceremony to show appreciation for 40 outstanding Community Honorees.  Each year, the District asks each of its school sites to identify a special individual or dynamic duo who has dedicated their time and energy to volunteering in benefit of students.

Director of K-12 Innovation and Technology, Cary Johnson, and Director of Elementary Education, Dr. Andrea Norman, took a moment to speak about each honorees’ contributions and presented them with a PYLUSD “You Are the Advantage” certificate of achievement.

Loved ones, coworkers, and fellow community members packed the Board room in order to cheer on the honorees as they received special thanks extended by Board members and District administrators.

At the end of the ceremony, Board President Carol Downey introduced Chloe, a 9-year-old with Sturge-Weber Syndrome and Epilepsy who, despite her illness, dedicates her time to spreading kindness with painted rocks.  That evening, each PYLUSD Community Honoree received their own, unique kindness rock handcrafted by Chloe herself.  It was a wonderful way to end the ceremony, and made each and every Community Honoree smile.  Thanks, Chloe!
