Leaders from Valencia attend AVID National Conference

The Valencia High School AVID leadership team had the fortunate opportunity of attending the AVID National Conference in San Diego from Dec. 10 through Dec. 12. Valencia is currently on its path to seek AVID National Demonstration Status, and is grateful for the support of AVID Director Minerva Gandara and AVID Specialist Paul Le Porte.

The purpose of the National Conference is to bring together educators from across the country to share proven strategies so that all students can achieve academic success. During the conference, the team, along with district representatives, were able to meet Mary Catherine Swanson, the creator of AVID. AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
