Kraemer Middle School students experience the positive impact of social media

Landon's Light project at Kraemer Middle School.Mr. Twamley class at Kraemer Middle School promotes "Landon's Light" as a part of a lesson on the impact of social media.

Mr. Twamley’s class at Kraemer Middle School recently began to study communication. Their first discussion was about social media and the impact it has on today’s youth.

Together, his language arts class decided to use their SnapChat and Instragram accounts to help a boy named Landon Solberg in North Dakota. Landon started receiving hospice care for brain-stem cancer and had a wish to receive a “shout out” from his favorite singer, Taylor Swift.

Three days after Landon’s wish went viral on social media, he received a Facetime call from Taylor Swift. Sadly, Landon passed away shortly after, but not before he inspired many others.

As a result, Mr. Twamley’s students are collecting and sending some of their favorite books to his school library to honor “Landon’s Light.”
