REACH Foundation’s annual track meet brings middle school athletes from across the district together to compete

Middle school track meet on May 11

On Wednesday, May 11, the REACH Foundation held its annual Middle School Track Meet event in Nathan Shapell Memorial Stadium at Yorba Linda High School.

Student-athletes from the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s (PYLUSD) seven middle schools competed against each other in events like high jump, long-distance running, long jump, sprints, and more. This included the Bernardo Yorba Matadors, Kraemer Cubs, Parkview Panthers, Travis Ranch Trailblazers, Tuffree Falcons, Valadez Eagles, and Yorba Linda Bobcats.

Following each event, medals and ribbons were awarded to the top three finishers as they stood on the winners’ podium for all to see. The event was supported by Yorba Linda High School’s track program under the direction of Coach Jesse Gomez.

The track meet marked the fourth and final event of the district’s expanded middle school intramural sports program. Students competed in volleyball, cross country, basketball, and track/field for the 2021-2022 school year. All PYLUSD student-athletes did an outstanding job at each event and made their individual schools proud.

This event would not be made possible without the generosity of the REACH Foundation, an all-volunteer, education-focused, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization in benefit of PYLUSD students district-wide. Much like in years past despite the slight alternations due to COVID-19 safety protocols, the event was a great success and continues to afford REACH the ability to support academics, athletics, and arts in PYLUSD. Thank you, REACH!
