Travis Ranch and Esperanza sinfonia groups perform at prestigious California Music Educators Association State Band and Orchestra Festival

Travis Ranch School’s Advanced Orchestra and Esperanza High School’s Sinfonia traveled to Northern California on April 28 to attend the California Music Educators Association (CMEA) State Band and Orchestra Festival. Under the direction of Mr. Matthew Fang, 47 students made the overnight trek and performed at Weill Hall at the Green Music Center amongst the beautiful redwoods of the campus of Sonoma State University and then were treated to an in-person clinic with one of the esteemed adjudicators of the event.

Qualification to attend this event required scoring Unanimous Superior ratings at last year’s SCSBOA Festival, as well as having their applications selected by the CMEA via a very competitive selection process. In his 6 years as Orchestra Director, this was Mr. Fang’s first time qualifying for this distinction.

The trip was made possible and generously supported by grants given by the administration of both Travis Ranch and Esperanza, as well as the Travis Ranch PTA, Travis Ranch Instrumental Music Boosters, Esperanza ASB, and the REACH Foundation.
