Woodsboro students take their science lesson on the go with nature walk to local park

Nature walk

Using Signature Practices to demonstrate evidence of successful learning and to promote student engagement, Woodsboro Elementary School students in Ms. Ulibarri’s class took the Science classroom outdoors. On Wednesday, April 19, Ms. U and her curious 1st graders ventured out on a nature walk at Yorba Regional. The goal was to observe the environment with all senses and to ask questions that can encourage each child to notice things.

According to Ms. Ulibarri, “Nature walks need no agenda! We searched for wildlife, plants, and collected colorful leaves, bird feathers and “treasures”. Our favorite part was just breathing deeply, and enjoying the fresh air, weather, and sounds of nature.”

The class followed up their walk by having a picnic lunch with invited loved ones and playing on the playground equipment.
