English learner students in this summer’s Rainforest Safari Camp at Melrose, Rio Vista and Topaz elementary schools conducted a cricket laboratory their first week. Students integrated science, reading, writing, art and English language development (ELD) skills to conduct a lab related to insects of the rainforest floor. The high level of communication, collaboration, creativity and cooperation were evident throughout the lesson. Teachers did an outstanding job leading students through this valuable learning experience.
