The spirit of giving is in the air at Morse Elementary School

Throughout the months of October, November, and December, Morse Elementary School families and staff have donated socks, shoes, clothes, and food to help families less fortunate.

In October, the school’s Student Service Organization (SSO), headed by 4th grade teacher Karen Ricotta, collected over 500 pairs of socks.  The socks were donated to H.I.S. House in Placentia.  SSO also organized the shoe and clothes drives. Gently used shoes and clothes were donated to families in the community. This month, the SSO is holding a food drive in which various grade levels collect canned and dry food items. The items will be gathered in baskets and donated to local families in need.

Staff members also came together to make the holidays special for one Morse family. Morse APLE representative and 2/3 combination class teacher, Cyndi McClelland, organized the gift giving among the staff. The Morse teachers, office personnel, and support staff all donated toys, clothes, and/or gift cards to help make the holidays special for the family. Throughout the collection of gifts, staff members remarked on how this event brought the staff together. The joy in giving back and coming together as a family to help those less fortunate brought a warm feeling to all involved.
