El Dorado set to induct three new Golden Hawks to athletic Wall of Fame

The El Dorado High School (EDHS) Golden Hawk Athletic Wall of Fame committee is proud to have announced the 2018 inductees.  Congratulations to Ty Pembleton (Class of ’83), Brian Loyd (Class of ’92), and long-time Golden Hawk supporter Dave Ramos.

Ty Pembleton distinguished himself at El Dorado as an outstanding, four-year wrestler. Twice an Empire League champion, he finished 2nd in the Southern Section CIF his senior year. Ty made two appearances in the CIF State tournament, finishing fourth his junior year and earning the 1st place Championship as a senior. Ty is one of eight Golden Hawks over the years to be named a California State Champion. He competed as a wrestler at the collegiate level at Cal State Fullerton for one year before moving to Australia with his family where he currently lives.

As a Golden Hawk, Brian Loyd was a member of both the varsity basketball and baseball programs. We honor especially his baseball achievements as a top-caliber catcher. Selected All-County and All-CIF his senior year, Brian earned a prestigious baseball scholarship to Cal State Fullerton. As a Titan he was a member of the 1995 College World Series championship team. That same year he was named MVP of the Big West conference tournament, and in 1996 Brian earned a bronze medal as a member of the USA Olympic Team. Following college, he played for the San Diego Padres, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Boston Red Sox.

Dave Ramos, and his wife Helen, have been residents of Placentia since 1970. Between the years of 1971 to 1985, six of their children attended El Dorado High School, and Dave became an active supporter of their activities as well as the entire Golden Hawk program during that time. His undying loyalty to the school and the community continues to the very present. In 1999 Dave donated a beautiful Victory Bell (in memory of his grandson Quinn) to the two City of Placentia high schools, awarded annually to the winner of the El Dorado v. Valencia football Bell Game. His Hawk Pride overflows!

Ty, Brian, and Dave will be honored at the school’s 2nd Annual Black and Gold Banquet on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at the Alta Vista Country Club.
