A thoughtful three-year journey at Ruby Drive Elementary has resulted in the school being designated as an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Showcase School! Only six schools in southern California represent this identical level of achievement within the AVID organization. Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Directors Minerva Gandara and Rick Lopez, as well as AVID Program Specialist Paul LaPorte congratulated the staff with cake at an after-school celebration. Way to go, Ruby Drive!
According to AVID, Showcase Schools provide an opportunity for educators to see an AVID implementation, share best practices, and learn more about AVID hands-on. The Showcase experience includes classroom observations and a chance to speak with experienced AVID teachers, administrators, and students.
